Commentary
स्तृञ् = gather that superior skin. refers to command, possibility from a wife asking to collect good clothing, in and era where animal hyde used to be clothing/bedding.
This is eternal. Refer to -
[“It is such a beautiful cloth”] (https://sanskritsahitya.org/ramayanam/3.41.18)
“My mother in law will also like this”
“i know i should not be asking for this but…” followed by [“I desire to sit on this hyde with soft cushions.”] (https://sanskritsahitya.org/ramayanam/3.41.19)
I believe, Use of cloth/hyde started first as bedding material before being used as cloth.
Bedding was made of either skin or gathered (च्छ) material as explained in आच्छादन meaning above.
I am considering स्तृञ् as स त ऋ ञ and not स त्र ऋ ञ because i am accepting that स्त्री is derived from स्तृञ्/स्तृ and when ऋ got replaced by र, there remains only one र that gets added त making it त्र, if t was त्र and not त, final word would have been स्त्ररि.
