In वर्ण समास Era -
श्रद्धा = Wish to hold (धा) tumbi upright in water (श्रत्))
Coulkd have meant collection of श्रद्धा also with श्रद्धाटाप and later टाप was forgotten.

In प्रत्यय Era -
collection of (way of Erect Superior + held/carried)
collection of भाव(Wish to hold (धा) tumbi upright in water (श्रत्))
