Commentary
This is self referenced meaning.
The old original meaning is lost since time immemorial. the evolution, imho, is like this -
गमॢँ = Live/moving fish subjugate(d) inside
This lead to considering domesticated animals also to be “गम” (as in ગમાણ)
This meaning is also lost by the time धातु पाठ is formed. Though its foot prints are more visible comapred to original meaning of ग in गमॢँ as move refers to movement similar to that of live fish subjugated inside something (likely net).
From गम as domisticated, came meaning og movement. Although गमॢँ also would have meant movement but it was more of vibratory, તરફડીયા, flopping sense something that would have been called झ. That is what झम् indicates.
With domistication flavour, it started to mean “going” in stead of more orderly from one place to other movement.
