रूढ अर्थ
downward - This seems to be an error. outward is considered downward. The second possibility is - This has happened later. Originally, when action is key central focus of conscious language, outward is up उ. When attention span of language increased, both इ उ meant downward eventually. But उ was stuck for “up”meaning by this time. and hence downward interpretation either is error or language wa yet fluid when this particular वर्ण समास settled.
